Description

If you start the movie on the right USB port, stop it and pull out the USB stick and put it into the left port, the video starts all over again, but it's the same movie file. You are not asked if you want to continue (like normal).

Correct, but does this also happen on other platforms?

It's the same thing on other platforms. It depends on the path the same and if you move the USB stick it changes.

It would be preferred to key this on the Filesystem UUID instead but libntfs does not really support that unfortunately.

Can't you fix this by storing a very small ini file on the disk itself? Winamp has such a feature. Contents of the pmp_usb.ini file there:

[ml_pmp]
syncOnConnect_time=1489005682
lastusedencoder=541144141
adiv1pos=50000
adiv2pos=50000

syncOnConnect_hours=12
