How to use showtime on ubuntu?

Added by Rural Hunter almost 9 years ago

Hi,

I built the latest showtime on ubuntu 12.10 desktop. I could launch showtime but it seems not responding to any keyboard input(I tried almost every key). In the home screen, I could see only 3 icons: plugin, network, settings, but not any hard disk. I could click with mouse and naviage into the 3 sections above but I couldn't find a way to navigate back. What's wrong?

There is not supposed to be and Harddrive in the Home menu when you start on Ubuntu (That could be considered a lack of a feature though)

Not sure why you don't seem to get any keystrokes through tho.

I use Ubuntu 12.04 myself all the time for development but i don't use Unity but rather gnome shell classic

Hi! I'm can't understand how to save settings of Showtime.
I had installed ver. 4.2, it works, but after quiting from programm settings set to default, even language or remote keymap...
What I'm doing wrong?

It should save settings as soon as you change them.

If you run Showtime from console you should see things like:

Settings [DEBUG]: Wrote 274 bytes to "/home/andoma/.hts/showtime/settings/bookmarks2"

Or you can see the log if you press F4

Thanks for hint. I figure it out by my self...
Directory owner /home/<user>/.hts/ was root, so user has no rights to access to write. After "chown <user>:<user> /home/<user>/.hts" everything works fine!
