I use Movian 3.x in ps3 to watch movie, it's long time since i found movian always output DTS to my receiver even the movie's audio track is AC3, it's mean that you can found the audio track is AC3 by check audio information in movian during the movie playing, but the odd thing is my receiver is display DTS output, and the 5.1 speaker sound ok but not perfect, ps3's audio set is passthrough all format support, it is a weird thing so i update the movian version to the newest -- 4.10, and turn it on , the thing is changed , AC3 is worked, i am so glad to test the next DTS movie, but this time the same issue is changed to DTS, my receiver is display Dolby Digital track in times play DTS movie. i think maybe before output audio track movian will decode audio track first , after decode the audio track then always encode it to DTS or AC3 to output , but i can't explain why it worked in this way,and it is just a guess, somebody has same problem like me?

Taken from here: https://movian.tv/projects/movian/wiki/FAQ

I'm using Movian on PS3 and playing a file with Dolby Digital (AC-3) 5.1 soundtrack but my receiver says it's DTS

Movian decodes multichannel audio to PS3 audio mixer which doesn't allow applications to output raw bitstreams. So the mixer reencodes that mutichannel stream on the fly to the best available format based on the audio settings in XMB. If 8 channel Linear PCM is available, that will be preferred. Then come DTS, then AC-3 and if none of those are available Movian will output 2 channel output Pro-logic mixed.
