What kind of EPG are you talking about?

I thought there was epg functionality for tv on last bleeding edge. maybe i misunderstood.

It is now possible to watch regular streams (not from tvheadend) using my latest iptvEPG plugin. You need to set up playlist (m3u) and xmltv epg (xml/gz) and you're good to go.

I dont know whatever it depends on you plugin or Movian itself but is it possible to change channels from m3u playlist by using tv remote (ch+ and ch- buttons) ?
I do like very much Movian and your plugin (btw i think this functionality - watch IPTV streams, should be included in Movian by default) for speed :)
Movian loads immediately and switching channels in your plugin is also fast as hell :)
I was looking for something like this for months... something like iptv setup box..kodi is to heavy and has to many features that i do not need.

It depends on the platform/connection to your device and your TV.

In all cases you should be able to switch channels using the prev/next |< and >| buttons on your remote controller. Some TVs don't send CH+/CH- signals via HDMI-CEC so it is impossible to use them.

CH+/CH- works if you're running Movian on RaspberryPi or PS3 (or any other device with HDMI-CEC) with slight changes to Movian's libcec.

Its first RaspberryPi model B connected thru hdmi to Samsung h6400 TV
Could you share this changed libcec library or instruction how to do it by myself ?

If you're running the STOS version, update your Movian with this one:

http://deanbg.com/public/rpi/movian/versions/20171213-494/showtime.sqfs

To update manually you must enable binreplace in settings:dev and then send the showtime.sqfs file to your RPi with curl for example:

curl --data-binary @showtime.sqfs http://192.168.100.204:42000/showtime/replace

replace 192.168.100.204 with the IP of your RPi.

Hi
i followed your instruction but now it throws me back to stream list

RE: EPG - Added by kris Romanov over 2 years ago

ok case closed
i have xperience plugin installed
i uninstalled it and everything work as it should :) thx anyway

but there is another question:
my m3u list is changing every few hours
does this plugin refreshes streams from m3u list periodically ??
or only after at startup ?

RE: EPG - Added by Dean Kasabow over 2 years ago

Only on startup or if you select the option from the ||| menu "Refresh Playlist and EPG". You can set how often at startup to refresh the EPG. Playlist is always "reloaded" at startup.

RE: EPG - Added by kris Romanov over 2 years ago

Any chance for such an option in the near future ?
Just for playlist not for EPG ?

Any ideas how to overcome the limitation of 30 symbols in the HTTP playlist address? Apart from using some redirect service or hosting your own file at some short path, like http://server/path/playlist.m3u. Dynamically generated playlists usually are quite long.

I would also suggest adding additional option in the settings that would allow to override channel order in the playlist and sort channels by the title alphabetically.

Apart from that, nice work.
