No subtitles when watching movies over uPnP

Added by Philipp Grosswiler about 12 years ago

I am using MiniDLNA and TwonkyServer to serve my movies to Showtime on the PS3 which works very well. But Showtime seems not to be able to load any subtitles whether they are included in the MKV container or as an external SRT/SUB file. The log indicates a request is sent to the server but with no file to load (yielding in an 404 response). Can anyone confirm this? Is it possible to use subtitles over uPnP with Showtime at all?

I would like to bump this thread. A lot has been fixed and SRT subtitles work very well from external sources by now. But VobSub subtitles (IDX/SUB) from external still do not work. Is it possible to add the functionality to load VobSub from external as well, similar to SRT?

This depends on the UPNP server I guess. Can you create a ticket with IDX/SUB examples attached to it?

You don't need to attach a movie, just the subs

Okay, I just created a new ticket #697 and attached an example of VobSub.

Great. I'll try to make that work with the upnp servers I have to test with (minidlna and twonky)

I know that for SRT-files the dlna server add some magic themselves. Not sure if they do with vobsub.

At least i'll try to fix if when streaming from normal filesystems.

Thank you! Let me know if I can be of any help, or to test new versions :)
