Movian

I think you have a fair point. The new list view is pretty dumb and ugly. But to its defence I will say that the previous one didn't work with mouse or touch based interfaces. I personally use my iPhone as a remote control to Movian on RPi so having that in place is paramount to me.

I will try to rework the list view during the coming weeks (as I have a vacation and got some free time hopefully). So ideas for a new design are much welcome (but remember, saying "just revert it to the old design" won't cut it)

I also still have Movian 4.xx on my ps3, largely due to the lack of TMDb support, but i do feel the new design doesn't really make use of the whole screen (50").
I also prefer larger posters on the big screen to help me pick a movie/show (but each to their own i guess )

this is my ps3 at the moment, but it changes every week

with all that said however I have to agree, the old design probably wouldn't look that good on my 10" tablet that I use at work, on the train etc.

As for design ideas ( because you can never please everyone ) perhaps taking inspiration from other services like hulu, netflix or amazon instant video?.

I also still uses 4.10 on my PS3. The main reasons from me are:
1. 4.10 UI is faster
2. It seems the new UI is mostly focus on mobile devices. Some UI display and controls are not very fit on PS3 comparing with the old version.

I'm currently working on an update for the skin Xperience which will include a rewritten list view that I hope will make many people happy with it.

I like that the little ticks next to a completed video are back, which makes tv series' a lot easier to follow.
The ability to change the size of text/items is also a fantastic idea!.

Off topic (I know sorry) are there any plans for porting your previous plugins to movian 5.0?. I also see a Trakt home page window in one of the screenshots :P, are there any plans for releasing a plugin in the future?.

May you give some examples of previous plugins you refer?
About the skin it will be available for movian v5.0+ but it will only work fully as intended with movian 5.0.196+

Well I did have a list, but after updating my phone to movian 5.0.270 it seems you have already ported them .
Not that it matters now, but no TMDb and navi-x support were the main reasons for holding back on the new movian on my ps3 (Navi-X does install fine but favorties is broken, TMDb view didn't work etc.)

I updated recently TMDb to make it more compatible with modern Movian, despite that it may not work completely, for that I suggest you use Trakt, it is fully supported in Movian 5.0.241+ and brins even features that TMDb didn't have (like scrobble) and even better name recognition.

The update is not yet released, and the version available is not fully compatible.

Ok, I'm gonna add back the right-detail-pane in the list view.

I apologize for not responding sooner and for bringing up an old thread, but I just wanted to say I like the latest version (bleeding edge) of Movian it works very well with my psp and vita in regards to being able to read the video title while using remote play but on my ps3 using the latest (and the last 2 or 3 versions) bleeding edge version I see no description(summaries?) of movies or tv shows on the right of my screen I do see the changing picture with the embedded video cover in the upper right corner however if I install the plugin called xperience (bad spelling maybe but you know what I mean) then I get descriptions for tv shows but not movies. The thing is If I install the "xperience" plugin then I cannot press up on my ds3 to get to the bottom of the file/folder list, I am sorry to say I have not tried the latest stable version of movian for ps3 with out the xperience plugin But I assume (perhaps incorrectly) that these issues exist for that version as well. The imgur link in your last post convinced me to use the 5.xx.xx versions.
